![]() ![]() For this week task we have come up with a Snail sweet potato pizza. We think it's a good idea, because it's different and quirky, just like me and Jack. I know the idea of eating snails may sound odd, but they're popular in my country (Italy) and very good for you health. I'll try to make this dish soon and i'll let you know how i get on. That is if i don't burn anything. I'm hopelss in the kitchen. ![]() Ingredients: For the base : half a bag of plain flour (this recipe works well with almond flour as well) 240 ml of warm water 2 medium sweet potatoes 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon olive oil 1 teaspoon baking powder( you can use yeast instead, if you prefer) 1 teaspoon salt For the topping : Some fresh San marzano tomatoes A spoon of olive oil 1 garlic 1 onion a few basil leaves A pinch of salt 1 mozzarella cheese About 4 small porcini mushrooms 1 tin of good quality Burgundy snails (you can buy them online) oregano (to sprinkle on top) ![]() Let's get started! Cook the potatoes in water, then peel them and mash them up with a fork. Wash and cut the tomatoes and the mushrooms in small pieces. Rinse the snails through a sieve and chop them thinly. We're going to make the sauce for the pizza now. Peel and finely chop the onion and the garlic. Next, heat a large frying pan on a medium heat and put a spoon of olive oil in it. Add your onion to the frying pan until softened and lightly golden. Then add your garlic and as soon as they start to get some colour add the basil leaves. Add the tomatoes and continue to cook for another 15 minutes or until sauce is thicker. Now we make the dough. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Add the warm water and the oil , mix all ingredients together until it forms a ball. Work the mixture in a surface dusted with flour. Put a little olive oil on two large pizza pans and spread the dough evenly on them. Preheat the oven first, then cook for about 20 minutes at about 200 C, until the crust is light brown. Take the pizzas out from the oven and add the tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, snails, mushrooms. Put them back in the oven to bake for another 10 minutes. When you see that the cheese has melted you can sprinkle some origano on them, serve and enjoy! ![]() We hope you like this dish, Jake. Please, let me know if you want me to send you some when i make it. '
