Default Quite freaked out.

So I'm on anti anxiety medication, and it's relaxing and all that, makes me quite tired, drained though. I got in bed at 10 and literally shut my eyes straightaway and felt my breathing relax and everything, could actually hear myself snoring too! But I was aware, so that's not properly asleep is it? I opened my eyes and saw my clock, but I was deep relaxed and snoring! I freaked out and sat up. Was bloody weird. Now I don't want to try go back to sleep in case in happens again, I didn't like it. Has anyone ever had this. What is it? Freaky!

OMG Kate that's sounds horrible, exactly the sort of thing I'm scared of! Hope you're okay I've never had it but maybe google it and see what it says?

If I wake up and go back to sleep (e.g. alarm clock) Im often aware Im sleeping and dreaming and more control of what happens. Lucid dreaming I think it is.

Also if I fall asleep on the sofa sometimes I make this terrible sound cus of the position, and I can hear that noise while I sleep which sometimes encourages me to wake up or I ignore it.

Weird. Dunno if Im fully asleep in either case but I become rested!

It says lucid dreaming, I'm really weirded out by it.

Yeah, I've had that where I've been so completely drained of energy but I'm not quite fully asleep.

I sometimes get sleep paralysis and can't move in the bed. I can feel myself in the bed but it feels as though someone is hovering over me.

Very relaxed state of mind Kate..a bit like when you are hypnotised.
Sort of asleep but you are aware of the noises etc around you.

..that's terrifying when you can feel someone there and breathing on you and you can't move at all...I occasionally get that as well...

Yeah I'm fine Ammi, I just don't want to try going to sleep again, too weird.

And Cherie, I'm on the medication to stop me having anxiety attacks so I need them.

It was like I'd fell asleep so fast, my body hadn't gone into sleep state. It wasn't sleep paralysis.

Lucid dreaming is amazing. I make myself do it a lot of the time, but it took years to 'train' myself into being able to do it at will. Always feel ****ing knackered after though

No, but they can certainly take the edge off. I'm on anti-anxiety tablets as well and they are useful for treating symptoms. You can't just snap out of taking them.

I know it sounds dodgy as ****, but I think the reason it makes you tired is that you don't sleep properly or something when you do it. Is an amazing feeling though being in control of your dreams..I can breathe underwater and everything

Could you have dreamed it? I've dreamed I've woken up before... it's quite freaky.

I actually think that's what happened when I analysed it this morning, it was freaky. I tried to do it again and it happened though, I was like wasn't as scary the second time but I could only cope with it for a few mins before making myself sit up.

I read in bed no matter how tired I am and sometimes I start dreaming and snoring a bit whilst I'm still reading.. I know that sounds daft but it does happen quite often

Wean yourself off and snap out of it are two different approaches. Unless you have an anxiety disorder for which you will need life long medication, I would imagine at some point you would like to come off of them?

Sometimes I dream that I've woken up, but then I can't move a muscle or bone in my body, and I'm literally paralysed until some like demonic figure hovers over me, but I can't see it and only when it leaves is when I actually wake up in real life.

It feels so realistic though, like I even wake up in the same position I thought I had woken up in, if that makes sense

Can't speak for anyone else but I've been victim to severe panic attacks since I was just a kid and also have a hoist of other anxiety problems so I can't imagine even weaning myself off them.
