Default Girl, 16, \'helped drunk friends kill\'

from www.metro.co.uk

A girl of 16 and her friends kicked a man to death in a random attack before jumping in the sea to wash off his blood, a court has heard.

When arrested, the teenager allegedly told police: 'That's right – I kicked him in the ********** head. I couldn't give a s***. I've got blood on me to prove it.'

When told the victim had died, she is said to have replied: 'I hope not. I will get done for murder. My mum's going to be mad. She will kill me.'

The girl allegedly launched the assault with Amie Bartholomew, 18, after Brian Kitching 'had the misfortune' to walk past them in a seaside park.

Bartholomew, who was pregnant, shouted to Mr Kitching that he was a 'dirty paedophile' and punched him.

The girls and friends Lewis Hoare, 18, and 25-year-old Paul Dewar then repeatedly punched and kicked Mr Kitching 'like a football', it was claimed.

After leaving the 68-year-old for dead, the four walked to the beach and tried to wash his blood from their hands and shoes, jurors heard.

Dewar and Hoare, who were both more than three times the drinkdrive limit, were 'dripping with blood'.

The four were arrested soon afterwards in Southsea, Hampshire.

Anthony Donne QC, prosecuting, said Mr Kitching did not know his killers.

He was left unconscious and robbed of his wallet, remained in intensive care for five months and was then moved into a care home.

Six months after the attack, he died as a direct result of the brain damage he suffered, jurors heard.

The 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, Bartholomew and Dewar deny murder but Hoare has admitted his part in the attack.

The trial continues.
