I am sure many would offend, But to refer to someone as "The Gays" may offend someone just as much as saying, well, "The English". You are generalising on people as Stropz said. People are individuals and should not be generalised.

Therefore I said: "Can open... worms everywhere" which refers to a well known phrase "open up a can of worms" which means "to create a situation that will cause trouble or be unpleasant."
