Sorce in the News
Former Miss Great Britain Danielle Lloyd has accepted a public apology from a newspaper which printed false allegations about the star having sex with a DJ in a nightclub. The Celebrity Big Brother contestant sued the Daily Star Sunday after it stated a tape existed of her "steamy romp" with a man she had only just met. Lloyd's solicitor told the high court: "The allegations are entirely false. The incident simply did not happen. "The publication of this false article has caused hurt, embarrassment and distress to the claimant." A payment from Express Newspapers will now be made to The Linda McCartney Memorial Trust at the request of Lloyd. Stephen Bacon, the counsel for the newspaper group, said: "The defendant acknowledges that the false allegations should never have been published. It is happy to meet the claimant's request that a donation be made to the charity of the claimant's choice. "It also undertakes never to repeat the allegations and to reimburse the claimant's legal costs in full." Lloyd was a contestant on the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother and formally dated Premiership footballer Teddy Sheringham. The 23-year-old was at the high court in London to hear the result |
