This evening's mini task has given the housemates the opportunity to flex their creative and team working skills.
At 17.30, Big Brother called a housemate to the Diary Room - Nadia obliged - and gave her instructions and a box of materials with which the gang are to make a "figurehead of Big Brother" to go above the Diary Room door. Here's the laminate the housemates were given: Housemates, Today Big Brother would like you to make a figurehead. The figurehead should be of Big Brother. You may interpret 'Big Brother' as you wish. Big Brother will place the figurehead above the Diary Room door so it must not be wider than the door itself. Big Brother has provided you with materials to make the figurehead. Becki puts forward a radical design idea These are: 5 x sheets of wire 2 x packs of wall paper paste 1 x roll of wallpaper backing 2 x wire cutters 10 x glitter pens 6 x paintbrushes 10 x poster paints 1 x tube of glue 3 x bags of sequins 10 x sheets of tissue paper 5 x ribbons 2 x big balls of wool 12 x small balls of wool Big Brother has also provided 2 buckets to mix the paste for the papier-mache. Half a bucket of water should be enough to mix with one of the sachets of glue. On completion, one housemate must come to the diary room and present the figurehead to Big Brother, explaining the inspiration behind its creation. Housemates have two hours to complete the task. Big Brother will announce when your time is up. Big Brother Official Site |

Less Paste, More Speed
The housemates' creative task isn't going quite according to plan - thanks to what Michelle perceived to be "s***" paper and a general unwillingness to mix wallpaper paste. When Big Brother provided them with a box of art materials and two hours in which to provide a wall mount, the reaction was mixed. Shell and Stuart immediately used the excuse of having to cook tonight's dinner to relieve themselves of participation, while Jason and Victor didn't bother making excuses and simply did not join in. This left Michelle, Dan, Becki, Marco and Nadia to roll their sleeves up and get mucky. Fairly soon only the girls continued to stir paste and paper in the hope of producing something to build with, while the boys moseyed past occasionally making suggestions. But even lead females Nadia and Michelle soon lost heart and stomped off to the Diary Room to note their concerns. "It's not working. It's not working at all," explained Michelle, adding that with "less sh**e" paper, they might be more successful. This stuff just won't stick! "It's disheartening," she sighed, before hastily promising Big Brother that it wasn't in her nature to give up. "It's not going to dry in time," Nadia put in. While Big Brother was noting their concerns, Becki was in the garden noting a few of her own. "It's a task and it's part of the rules and it's something to do," she told Jason, after the anti-art muscle man had expressed his opinion that the task wasn't compulsory and therefore he wasn't going to get involved. "Somebody's gotta do it," muttered Becki as the hulk sidled back indoors. |
