They're twins! Isn't that amazing! They're twins! They're still amazed and excited by it and they've known they were twins for 18 years! A lot of people claim that "kids today grow up so fast. There's no time for childhood". OK, some kids do. But then we've got this sinister breed of retarded-development 18-year-olds who behave like 11-year-olds. It's all squealing and "I like pink! Yes, pink!" and lollypops and frou-frou skirts from Mothercare and claiming to be useless and wanting to be a pwincess.

We've bred this new genre of post-post-feminists who play on acting vacuous and say women should never buy drinks and how their top film is Legally Blonde and Paris Hilton is "proper aspirational" and that they know that some big stwong man will look after them one day and make everything all right. Hint: he won't. Put your clothes on and bloody grow up.

Actually, maybe I'm totally wrong here. They're probably quite sweet once they've calmed down. Three weeks of eating chickpeas and having to bathe in the lounge should do it. At least it might stop them running around making high-pitched noises.

I thought the exact opposite. Seems to me that society conditions young women to see being ultra-girly as something to be ashamed of these days. Girls are expected to be adults when they're barely even into their teens, and then it's full speed ahead to binge drinking, ladette culture and aspiring to get yourself into Zoo or Nuts or whatever.

As for their vt, I thought it was hilarious and incredibly sweet. Literally every single person I've spoken to since has disagreed with me on that score though, but whatever ... But we don't know how much they were hyped-up before that was filmed either, of course. I think their excitement on entering the house was to be expected, too. All of the other new hm's would've been in isolation with nobody other than BB staff for company, whilst the twins would've been together all of that time with their happiness, excitement, nervousness, etc. bouncing off each other. It would've been a 'squeally' moment for anyone, but magnify that by ten at least when you're first in and accompanied by your best friend, sister and twin, all rolled into one.

I don't think clothing should be used as a yardstick for character or integrity, either. If they want to be girly, let them be girly. Wearing pink and having blonde hair doesn't automatically make them shallow, or deluded. If anything, they were conservatively dressed in comparison to the likes of Charley, for example. Time will tell of course, but they weren't looking for any opportunity to expose their breasts, either (sorry, Charley fans). They're both supposedly training to be social workers, too. Although of course that doesn't automatically mean that they're streetwise and have massive IQ's. But it certainly suggests that they're intelligent enough to win places on whatever course they're studying, and doubtless they'd have gone into that with their eyes wide open as to the seedier side of society they'll soon be required to encounter, too.

I think most girls/women dream of that "big stwong man [who] will look after them one day and make everything all right". We're all capable of romantic daydreams, but we're not gullible enough to believe that he actually exists. I've no time whatsoever for Paris Hilton, and pink is pretty scarce in my wardrobe, too. But I love Legally Blonde.

I just Googled her, not having a clue who is she is. And yeah, it's from a blog she's done for Radio Times. Although why she calls it a blog when it's essentially a broadsheet diarist's template padded out with tired stereotypes and snide putdowns, I've really no idea. Referring to Charley as "resembling a boil-washed Beyoncé" pretty much sums up her skewed take on the housemates. If anything, it screams of embittered jealousy. She writes like a man, and would doubtlessly get along like a house on fire with the likes of Jeremy Clarkson. I'm pretty surprised that the BBC would allow themselves to be linked (however distantly) with such a shoddy excuse for journalism. What a vile woman.

I can't say I agree with everything you've said. I think the twins act very immature to say they're 18, being obsessed with one colour, always squealing and screaming about trivial things. I don't dislike them, but I wouldn't like to see this sort of behaviour encouraged.

The point you make about children growing up too quick seems to be true, I see so many young people acting like adults they see on TV and in the films, drinking and smoking before the legal age, having sex and getting pregnant. There's a lot of popular recreational activities these days which weren't so popular in the past according to older people I speak to, and by many accounts this young generation is 'out of control' or 'ill disciplined' or at least not as well behaved as young people used to be. There's probably alot of exaggerations made when people compare this generation with ones from the past, but I still notice things when I go out or when I switch on the TV and see the changes in youth culture.

This issue about the twins being too immature, in my opinion, is the opposite extreme to young people trying to grow up too quick. They must live very spoilt lives for them to be able to still live in a world where the only important thing is the colour pink . There is obviously no chance these girls have spent time living independantly, having to pay bills and work hard to maintain their materialistic lifestyle, which is something they seem to have become attached to, something which embodies the image of playful children below the age of 10.

I hope I'm not being unfair about the twins, I like them alot, they're very nice natured girls and they always seem to be very well mannered when they're speaking to other housemates, and just because I think they should grow up a bit, it doesn't mean I would evict them, either. I think the BB house will be a good experience for them and maybe their maturity will increase when the tension rises, the tasks get harder and the time away from home starts to take an effect. Then there's the issue of whether they will be spilt up.

I think it's great how the public are being made to learn the difference between them. It would be fascinating to see them up for the public vote 1 v 1.
