Default Kids future uncertain because of 7000 quid...

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/...avages-8729113

I find this utterly disgusting tbh, whilst we fund boobjobs and gastric bands and the likes. 7000 is nothing in the grand scheme of things. The story is actually quite scary to me too because it mentions him going into hospital everytime he has a cold to get help with his breathing..my daughter is exactly the same Luckily she has no problems except for that though and one or 2 nebulizers usually sorts her out

One of my mates has set a fund up for this kid, so thought it might be worth sharing on here as it doesn't seem to be spreading very well :/

If people can raise hundreds of thousands for someone to move house, surely 7k is nothing at all

http://www.gofundme.com/jacksvest

Please share this if you can, would be nice to see another screwed over by nhs cuts being helped.

Poor little fella

Like you say, if we can fund boobjobs and gastric bands, what's £7,000? I find it sickening that they wont help this kid.

Poor little fella, I'm sure they will find the money vicky, I'm with you regarding cosmetic proceedures.

Local communities can come together in amazing ways when it comes to things like this. There's a young girl around where I live who had a rare type of leukemia and had exhausted all NHS avenues, but there was a treatment available in Germany at the cost of £300,000 that apparently has an 80% success rate. The entire county really pulled together, the money was raised, she got the treatment and it was successful. It was everywhere - wristbands being sold absolutely everywhere, people donating all sorts of services for free for people to buy at auction (salon treatments, their holiday home for a week, things like that). I think there was even a temporary charity shop set up in an empty store that the council gave access to for free.

I feel pretty certain that if the family gets their story out locally and gets people engaged with it, they should be able to raise £7000 in no time. It's not a huge amount of money, but that doesn't really matter if you don't have it... it's horrible to think about happening to your child and being so powerless. I could get together £7000 relatively quickly these days, but even just 3/4 years ago there were times when I was raiding the 5p jar for a bus fare to work and a bill coming through for £70 gave me cold sweats, let alone £7000. I think when you're not in that position, it can be all too easy to forget that a few thousand is insurmountable in some circumstances... maybe that's why it's not getting the attention? People feel like it shouldn't be an issue. Ironically, they would probably have more people jumping on board to help if it WAS for more money.

Surely the £7000 vest is cheaper for the NHS in the long run than having to regularly take him to the hospital for physio, which the article says he has to do without it? Crazy... hopefully he gets the help he needs soon.

I don't really use FB and Twitter, but I'm gonna use them for this, it's heavily important.

As is often the case with the NHS, it's usually a case of the treatment being "untested" (by them, even if loads of other countries or private health care are using it successfully) more than the cost. They won't use any treatment that isn't "signed off" even if it's far cheaper than the services that they're offering instead. I would imagine it's down to health and safety / insurance. But the sad fact is, as great as the NHS can be at times, there are plenty of examples of things in this country not being that different to the US at times. I. E. You can either afford to pay for a treatment yourself or you're in trouble.

Local communities are great for things like this. Last summer our area raised about 10k for a disabled kids mobility chair.

such a sad story. as much as i love our NHS i can not but help but think cost should not be the issue here.

this boy needs help and we should be providing it.

this is one of the points i always bring in when i am talking about foreign aid - if everything is up and running in this country and noone is going with out ie Jack then we should give - but if someone is not getting care here ie Jack - then we should use this budget.

or is this a terrible thing i have just said.? please note it did not rhyme.
