Was Emily really sorry for what she said or was she having us on in the diary room?

Everyone knows i am not an emily fan in any way shape or form,But i do believe she was sorry.
She has been raised in a place with disgraceful morals it seems,as have most of us when it comes to racial and discriminating language.Shes not racist, just ignorant She deserved her punishment and hopefully,if even just one viewer stops themselves from calling somone a "N*gger or "Gay" and other words in a derogatory way etc in a flippant manner this whole debacle was worth it |

She did genuinly seem sorry for her actions. The thing is though the rules are there and the producers would have decided well before the show that if any sort of racist comment was used during BB8 then they would act upon it immediately so you have to say they did a good job.

I don't think there's any reasonble doubt. Yes, she was sorry she said it and especially that it caused offence.

I was not keen on Emily as a hm, but have absolutely no doubt in my mind that it was a genuine apology. In fact I want to go further and suggest that her objective for using this word in the first place was just her way of saying to Charley that she sees her as a close friend and close friends can say anything to each other without being misunderstood. Clearly this was a massive miscalculation after just a week and was also not considering the outside viewing world either. She had to go but i do feel 5% sorry for her and her stupidity. The simple answer is to never even think this word let alone use it.... Period.

We do, however, like Emily, understand that the calculation was incorrect and the offence caused warranted an apology. |

Yes, I really do think she was sorry. I felt bad for her in the circumstances. But I thought BB handled the whole situation very well and she did need to be punished. Watching BBBM afterwards helped me understand the impact a lot more. I can pretty confidently say that the whole thing with Emily was based on stupidity rather than being racially motivated. But I think she was very mature, and as a result she shouldn't suffer much in the outside world - for her stupidity and ignorance, maybe, but nothing more. Unless there is more to it in the outside world that I don't know about, but based on her house actions this is how I see the situation.

I don't think she was sorry for what she said (we don't seriously think that was the first time she'd ever called someone that, do we?), I think she regretted saying it because she didn't think about the consequences.

and yes she was sorry.....if it hadn't been for the wake up call she might have been able to say it more clearly, as she was slightly in shock at the time...... give it a rest anyway.....she made a mistake, she is not a racist. dOc |

I'd like to think yes but then again why would she be sorry if her mates say it all the time. That really made me think twice.
But she is NOT racist. |

She was very sorry, and she proved that in the diary room.
As George said, only a person with a heart of stone could still not feel for her. |

I never swear in front of my family (and I'm 27) but when I used to work in a warehouse swearing was more like friendly banter between friends and not what you would normally associate with swearing.....I remember coming home after a very long day, my mom asked me something and I said "oh no, **** that" I was thinking ****....what did I say......of course that was a while back ![]() so my thoughts on it were just that Emily and her friends just use that word a lot in friendly ways....and unfortunately she said it on that show, to someone she was friendly with. I know swearing and the N word aren't really the same thing but words do creep in to your vocabulary without you even noticing like the millions of dickheads that keep saying "at the end of the day" anyway it's over with now. dOc |

I agree.
But I still think it's wrong that the word was said several times before and after the fact and nothing happened to those people..... anyway that wasn't your question...... I Agree dOc |

I agree, but well done to the girl for at least going out with dignity and not making a huge thing about it. She knew she'd done wrong, and she took the punishment without kicking up a fuss. Well done to her.

I do feel really sorry for her, if your not given a warning , its not really fair, she could have easily been punished in another way to prove its not tolerated, as the only damage it does, is ruining her life with bad publicity
