Default Soldier On

Jason has been priming his troops to ensure tonight's sentry duty goes off without a hitch... knowing that passing the task will bring him one step closer to dodging eviction.

As the Scots Sergeant sat in the Sentry Hut he outlined the nature of the sentry duty. "Remember you have to sit, you cannot move," he said, indicating the seat of the hut to Ahmed.

As Victor joined them in the garden Jason repeated his instruction, telling the Londoner, "You've got to stay in here."

Continuing his motivational speech he told them, "That's the thing guys - we've got to make this clockwork - this watch changeover."

He and Victor decided they would go over the nature of the watch changeover so everyone knew what to expect.

Taking a brief break from his drilling, Jason yawned at the rigours of a day that had involved bossing his housemates around and eating fine food.

Ahmed suggested that if Jason weren't happy with his elevated position, he'd be happy to swap. The muscleman seemed strangely reluctant to relinquish his role.

"This is the most toughest task," grumbled Ahmed.

"It's not tough... we can do it," encouraged his Sergeant.

And with the outcome of the task still playing on his mind, Jason reminded Ahmed, "Soon they will do the bugle call and you'll have to get into full uniform."

"Privates, it's gonna be a long cold night... does everyone know the changeovers?" he checked with Daniel and Stuart, who had wandered into the garden.

"Dan, you've gotta make sure the night swaps go good... [that] everyone knows their shifts," barked Sergeant Jason.

They only have five minutes to swap shifts during sentry duty, which lasts from 10pm until 6am.

On parade

Moments later the bugle sounded interrupting Jason's pep talk and summoning the troops to get in line and raise the Big Brother flag.

As the ceremonial music sounded through the garden the housemates lined up on the decking and saluted while Nadia raised the flag. Job done, she took up her position alongside the troops and saluted.

The music stopped. "Troops dis-" began Jason, as they started to disband.

But the solemn music restarted and the housemates quickly stood back to attention, laughing at the sombre tones. As it went on... and on, Michelle's saluting arm began to tire.

"Bloody hell - can't we swap arms," she moaned.

That's the least of your problems.

If Buttocks Mary was ever really in the Navy then he would know that Sergeants (like Petty Officers) are never called 'Sir'.

Any self-respecting Sergeant would reply to such a response with:

"The title 'Sir' is reserved for officers ....... I, on the other hand, am far more important and will be addressed as 'Sergeant' at all times."

Jason wasn't having a go at Nadia, he never said that anyone couldn't smoke on duty he just used this as the sort of example of the things that Michelle and him could impose if they wanted to. Nadia flew off the handle without actually listening to what he said at all, she was completely in the wrong and was unreasonable and antagonistic for no reason whatsoever. Good for Jason that he didn't rise to the bait and didn't get annoyed with her over it - I certainly would have done, I'd have told her to grow up and start listening properly before over-reacting.

She felt victimised only because she is an fool and didn't listen properly to what was being said. Jason wasn't being a bully at the time at all, he was having a perfectly normal, quiet conversation with the other housemates and Nadia didn't listen to him, prejudged him and made a complete fool of herself. This view is born out by the other housemates reactions at the time, almost all of them tried to tell Nadia she was over-reacting and to calm down, but she was so determined to make a scene she just ended up looking like the idiot she is.

She made a mistake, and hence didn't deserve to be screamed at intimidatingly by Jason,it was wrong and he had no right to call her a baby and whatever else he said!

He took the p**s out of her saying she was always being victimised but i Jason is contstantly being intimidating towards her why wouldn't she feel victimised? She has every right to say what she wants without being sreamed at for no reason!

If Nadia's in a mood then you can guarantee that it's about ciggies she must be very addicted to the cancer sticks.

Point 1: Though I'm not a great Jason fan, I did think he looked VERY nice in his uniform!!

Point 2: I agree that Nadia was in the wrong in the conversation she had with Jason and that she over-reacted. However, her conversation in the Diary Room later showed that she realised this and had actually balanced out a bit. She knew that one of the reasons she found the task difficult was because she had to submit to Jason's authority and she was able to see the funny side of it. She's no fool!

Jason knows what Nadia is like when it comes to her cigerettes and I think he mentioned this in front of Nadia to get a rise out of her. Which worked. At least she didn't just sit there and agree like Shell and Dan would of done. She spoke her mind.

I totally agree SD - it was like a red rag to a bull.

There were many other examples that he could have used which would not have been so provocative.

Jason = BIG muscles; tiny mind; BIG head; tiny personality; BIG ego; tiny peni.............?

I think the disagreements between Jason and Nadia this week highlights the main difference between them.

Having been in the Navy, Jason is obviously very comfortable with hierarchy and discipline. I think he would have been as comfortable had he been a private, but he was a good choice as seargent. He has come out of his moodiness this week and has made more of a contribution. It is as if he needed to be given a role in the group to shine. It'll be interesting to see how this carries on now they are all "civvies" again"!

Unlike Jason, Nadia is uncomfortable with the idea of ranks and regiments etc. and this has been made worse by the fact that someone she doesn't like is in a position of authority. Added to that, she admitted she doesn't really like the task and hated wearing the uniform, so she's been having the week from hell! Now the task is complete and she has some cigarettes, I wonder if she will come out of herself again. Mind you, even with "crazy Ahmed" on the loose, I wonder if she is expecting to go this Friday?
