No, channel 4 and endemol have made an agreement to make 2 more series. So there will be atleast 10 series of BB including BBLB, BBBM, CBB

C4 have nothing, and I mean *nothing*, to replace the revenue this show still generates.
15% of it's total income? Whats gonna replace that? hehe nah, BB is here for a few more

The current series number of BB is one higher that the last number of the year it is shown in. e.g. 2005 - BB6 2006 - BB7 2007 - BB8 |

I think C4 now regard BB as an albatross around its neck.
they may indeed be a contract for more series, but that contract WILL have a get out clause, namely ratings. C4 have killed series in the past, a case in point would be NYPD Blue, and they have used the same method serveral times, its quite simple, you keep switching a programmes start times. this automatically loses a good percentage of viewers, then you switch the show to a regular [but short lived slot] later than previous series, then you fiddle with that start time, adding or subtracting a few minutes and up to an hour - diehard fans check the times, the vast majority of viewers do not - they get into a routine, and once the routine is interrupted the viewing habit for a show gets broken, ratings drop further. Once viewing figures drop below a certain point - you will then have a choice of re-negotiation of price or cancellation of the next series, and I think c4 will favour cancellation. All TV show contracts with channels have this clause, that is how and why US networks cancel so many shows, they can cite the ratings, the same exists in C4's contract for BB. I reckon if the HL how for this series starts being pushed back to a 10.30 - 11.00 PM start, thats the signal, and the next series of BB will not be on C4 |
