I think that as long as we all realise that Ahmed has absolutley no respect for women what so ever we will be fine. It is not his cultures way to accept women as being in authority so why would he respect Michelle. Bananarama is right Michelle could only have insulted Ahmed if she had known it was an insult - all she did was hoy a flip flop at him out of anger and frustration because he will just not let anyone else speak or have an opinion, he has to talk over the top of other people which is very annoying and only his opinion is the right one. God I hope he goes tonight he really gets on my one poor frayed nerve.

It is not acceptable to generalise about any religion in this way.

Whilst accepting that there are some cultures which treat women as second class citizens, this is not necessarily a product of mainstream Islam. Sometimes there is an attempt to justify such behaviour by chauvanists (like Ahmed) through their misinterpretation of the Koran - but that is no more the fault of Islam than fundamentalist 'born again' sects are the fault of mainstream Christianity.

I have no religious beliefs myself. However, while there is still a significant minority of people who do hold some form of belief, I feel that they should not be discriminated against (for that, or any other reason).

I case my last post is read as being a defence of Ahmed, I would add that his chauvinist behaviour is also totally unacceptable. The only difference is that I hold him personally responsible for his own actions, rather than smear the religion that he purports to believe in.

In point of fact, many of his habits and his behaviour in the house point to him being a very insincere and poor example of a Muslim.

I've checked the Sky TV guide (the onscreen digital one) which usually changes the listings if something in the schedule has been changed (and they always get it right). The 9pm BB is still half an hour...and the 10pm one is the same. If there was going to be a double eviction of some kind then it would've listed this.

I had a bad dream last night that the rumours were true and that Ahmed chose a housemate to go with him - and I was heartbroken because it was Dan. When I woke up I was relieved that it was only a dream.

For the record at the moment as a Cyber Devil's Advocate, my client is Michelle

I was not defending Ahmed but trying to give an incite into his mindset and way of thinking.

On the wider point raised by p2pnut, and I am aware of the thinness of the ice I am skating, there is an issue in the way women are treated in Islam.

For the record, the person at my local chippy is a devout Muslim and I like to go there because we can chat about spiritual things.

However

From the Koran (Translated by John Alden Willimams one of the most accurate translations into English)

Sura 4:38
Men stand superior to women in that God has preferred some of them over others ... But those (wives) whose perverseness ye fear, admonish them and remove them into the bedchambers and beat them

Some individuals may be enlightened, but the teaching do teach that women are inferior, and that should explain why Ahmed had a problem with Michelle being a sergent.

I guess I was somewhat guilty of the traditional white middle class liberal reaction there.

I do find any form of discrimination offensive ........ but upon reflection that is why I don't support any religion. They all tend to promote their own exclusivity and 'demonise' other brands of belief - whilst themselves being packed with just that type of discriminatory bias against some section of society or other.

I used to like Avid when he did his small bit on BB3 the Adverts of him kidnapping Craig were quite funny but I've never liked the show I don't find him that funny anymore to be honest.

That Koran book should be burned by the look of it. Those "women are second" people should not stuff that rubbish down other peoples throats. Ahmed can have those rules for himself, or the women in his religious group, that have agreed to be submissive like that...but to expect a normal healthy sane woman to bow down to that son of a b*tch is just ridiculous.

I'm so glad Ahmed is out, and I hope he's looking at himself on the tapes, or dvd's and doing alot of cringing. If I was Ahmed, I'd probably be suicidal by now. Let's hope he just hates himself alot and does a big U-Turn and redeems himself somehow.

Speaking of ending it all, I wonder how Kitten's doing... I would be so depressed if I was Kitten looking at myself acting like a deranged idiot on the BB roof. Phew. Being on TV has psychological affects for everybody, but it pains me to think about how it may have affected Ahmed and Kitten. Maybe it's best they never comprehend how silly they are. For their sake.
