Wise old owl Nadia tried to make sense out of the Big Brother world, but ended up confusing her housemates even more.

On the subject of Big Brother's recent attempts to get a rise out of the housemates, Nadia pronounced, "We have a saying. Imagine a snake, it's a predator, quite scary, can kill but then gets eaten by a hawk."

There were perplexed looked all round, and then Dan got it. "The hunter becomes the hunted?" he hazarded. Correct! It was like a game of Catch Phrase.

Stuart wanted to play. "That's the coolest thing, when the hunter becomes the hunted," he enthused.

"Like when you're having a water fight and then someone comes out with the Jet Power Spray 2000 and everything changes," he said, wistfully remembering a fun time in the paddling pool.

"There's always someone bigger, better, or more powerful than you," added Dan.

Stu is impressed by Nadia's words of wisdom


"Or younger," added Nadia, who constantly worries about her age.

Nadia uttered another pearl of wisdom. "Don't spit in the air because it might fall back on your face," she told the assembled gang.

Sound advice, but the meaning was obscure. Maybe don't nominate housemates in front of each other?

Chief translator Dan thought this phrase was the Portuguese equivalent of "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." Sound advice for people who are living in the biggest glasshouse of them all.

Nadia's last catchphrase was her most enigmatic yet.

"Never say that I would never drink from that water from that well," she warned ominously.

Confused by Nadia's accent Stuart asked "What whale?"

"You don't know what might happen tomorrow," Nadia explained.

"I do," Shell piped up. "They're going to say 'Pack your suitcase.'"

Or as Nadia would put it, the hawk that flies on the bright side of the well misses the spit in the air. Or something like that.

well i have to agree with you kore but only occasionally. sometimes she seems to be struggling and when she talks too fast i cant quite catch what shes saying but its cute, bless her
