Default Our karaoke girl/boyfriend

I was out with my girlfriend two weeks ago and we walked into a pub which we visit often, but for some strange reason their was a load of people doing Karaoke inside and I say that it was strange, as our local pub never has done that. Anyway, my girl is quite forward and said that she knows this song by Madonna, called - Like a Prayer. I am sure you know that track. Anyway, after waiting for about 3/4's of an hour and it was quite busy that night, my girl got up and sung.

It was HORRIBLE, OMG!!!!! I have never realised how bad her singing voice was, but I love her and did not want to hurt her feelings, so I just said - I thought you were good. But I was lieing. Oh deary me.

Has anyone else had a similar experience whereby your girl/boyfriend - or partner has such a bad singing voice? Just thought I'd ask.

Most people who do karaoke can't sing, but know they can't sing - they do it for a laugh (of course there's the question: do you make it overly bad so people know you don't think you can sing, or do you attempt a happy medium but people may think you're trying to sing and you're just plain shite).

I sing at karaokes when drunk. Absolutely awful. I apologise to the crowd before, and afterwards.

Oh God Lauren, she was BAD!!!! and I mean BAD!!!! it was embarassing to see the pub folk looking in disgust and I was looking at many of their facial expressions but what could I do? I just couldn't wait to get her off the stage. She didn't even have a drink either, but after that performance, I certainly did, ha!

LMAO! Did it sound like she was trying?
Those are the worst ones! The ones that change tone and pitch as if they genuinely believe they can sing, when really it's like someone rubbing a cheese grater to your ear drums.

I wish I had my cameraphone mobile with me, the spectacle would have been worthy for youtube or veoh, ha! But I guess I can't really talk, as I can't sing either and I wouldn't dare go up anyway. That night, we should have drank at home
