Default Tesco workers manhandle and apparently beat shop lifter

Quote:
THIS is the dramatic moment Tesco staff were filmed manhandling a suspected shoplifter into the back room of a store.

The footage was shot this morning in the Tesco Metro in Monument and shows a member of staff allegedly shouting “shut your *******ing mouth”, as the man is seemingly bundled from the main part of the store.

The man was taken from the shop floor and moved into a back room by staff
As he is detained in the back room of the shop someone can be heard yelling “sit on the *******ing floor”.

The footage was posted on Twitter by @darealkai who said he was “ashamed” to have witnessed it.

In it the man is seen to struggle against the two men, who appear to force him to move into the back room.

The city worker, Kyle Tibby, said he was buying his lunch in Tesco when he saw the apparent scuffle between the man and staff.

He said: “I witnessed the gentleman try to steal a bottle of alcohol and so did the Tesco staff, and he tried to walk out the door with it and the Tesco staff stopped him at the door.

“There were about four or five who surrounded him and dragged him on the floor.”

He also alleged the man was kicked and punched, but this is not clear from the video.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We contacted the police following an incident in our Monument store, and are supporting them with their enquiries.”

This week it was reported Tesco is launching a ‘quiet hour’ scheme in a bid to support autism sufferers while they shop.

And a woman was seen getting around a lack of trolleys in a store.

No sympathy for him, most of the time it's repeat offenders and the police do nothing about it when reported.

Where did that happen? Or are you just believing the word of one person. I wonder if you'd have as much sympathy for a thief if it was you they were stealing from.

They're idiots. You could get away with this sort of thing ten or fifteen years ago.Not these days with cameras and HD video phones everywhere. Some shoplifter aint worth losing your job over. It's not like he robbed one of their houses. Then i wouldn't blame them.

The shoplifters themselves are even bigger idiots than that. They could just scam the self checkout like all of the other shoplifters and no one would even notice .

If this happened in my shop then the people involved would be on final warnings or worse. The shoplifter was offering resistance but he didn't seem to be violent towards the staff or anyone else so if that's the case there's no excuse to be violent towards him. The shoplifter will likely be able to make a claim against them for being handled like that.

'Tesco workers manhandle and apparently beat shoplifter'. The key word there is 'apparently', because all the witness saw was the shoplifter being manhandled into a back room and told to 'sit on the f...... floor'. Where does the beating come in?
Alcoholics (and seeing as it was alcohol he was stealing, I'm making an assumption here) can be very violent and unpredictable, which is why there were probably several Tesco workers involved.
Only those behind the closed door know whether the man was beaten or not. These kind of assumptions are the kind made to stir up trouble, whether it's the truth or not.

They will have to be careful, if it's not deemed to be reasonable force they will find themselves in big trouble.

eh?

But yeah, OTT reaction. Tesco have their own security guards who can (I assume?) subdue shoplifters until the police arrive but not good to actually beat them...obviously
