Default Estimated 95 per cent of Manchester's young homeless people are on drugs

DO NOT give any homeless person money to make yourself feel virtuous, you may kill them

The scourge of drugs on Britain's streets: Shocking footage shows people turned into 'the walking dead' after taking Spice and 'zombies' slumped in town centre
  • New strain has left people 'freezing like a statue' or 'keeling over onto their faces' in middle of the street
  • Paramedics have been called to 26 incidents in Manchester during one day due to the effects of the drug
  • It is estimated around 95 per cent of Manchester's young homeless people are taking Spice
  • Meanwhile pictures have emerged of 'drug problems' at bus station in Wrexham with needles seen on floors
  • Bus driver Gavin Rodda said he wants to raise awareness of 'heroin problem' in the area and called for action

Meanwhile, charity figures estimate that 95 per cent of Manchester's young homeless are believed to be on Spice.

WHAT IS SPICE?

Spice is a synthetic drug that is supposed to mimic the effects of cannabis on the brain.

It was banned in the UK last April and is also outlawed in many European countries as its actual composition is different to the real thing and some experts believe it can be 100 times as potent as cannabis.

Harmful side effects include increased heart rate, seizures, psychosis, kidney failure and strokes.

It has been linked to deaths in Australia and Russia, while in 2015 it was blamed for five university students being taken to hospital, with two from Lancaster University left in critical condition.

An investigation by the Mail found that some of the drug’s most prolific users are secondary school pupils as young as 13, who smoke it before school and during their lunch break.

One user said: 'I have used it for about two years. It's cheap in bundles and they are going for daft prices.

'Heroin users are saying it's the worst stuff going. It's dangerous.'

Julie Boyle, support worker at youth homeless charity Lifeshare, said the new Spice on the streets had terrifying effects on people.

The drug has already been causing chaos, with Lifeshare warning of youngsters being trafficked, gang raped, contracting HIV and even dying as a result.

This is pretty tragic stuff. Spiceophrenia is fast becoming a real problem for the NHS because its so potent it brings on psychosis quicker than any other recreational drug.

These people have friends and family but no one wants a druggie living with them.
What parent wants to walk round town and see these people laying in shop door ways.

We could all get a drug addiction and lay on the streets but we don't, I got time for people that fight their addictions but those that don't are better off dead.
