I know it's a topic that's been done loads of times, but I am wondering how would you personally fix the England team so that we can be more competitive in the big tournaments like Euros or the World Cup?
For me this is what I would do. 1. Encourage our youngsters to play abroad so that they adapt to new styles of play and tactics in general, Football is all about having Football knowledge aswell as skill, and our best players lack the former I feel. 2. Instead of playing a static 4-4-2 all of the time, I feel that our managers should be more adaptable to tactics such as 4-3-1-2, 4-3-3, and 4-5-1, and the latest trend of 3-5-2, but personally I'd prefer England to use one of the other three that I named as it's less risky at the back. 3. More in line with my 2nd option, is that don't play players out of position just because they're a big name, if the player isn't good enough to start in their best position then they go on the bench, I mean just imagine in the last Euros saying that Wayne Rooney's coming off the bench to **** up Iceland? Their tired legs wouldn't have coped for a minute. 4. English managers need to gather more experience with big teams (weather abroad or native) so that they are able to cope with the big occasions such as a World Cup, and preferably I would like the manager to be English as they'll show more passion and desire to want to do well rather than throwing it for their country (see Sven each time we took on Sweden) so it's a rare case where I would be discriminatory in a way. 5. Give out low expectations in the Media so that the pressure gets taken off the players which hopefully would make them play with no pressure, and if we did better than was expected then it makes the players and the Media much more happy with the teams performance.

not give a **** about the nationality of the manager and just get the best man possible for the job
Ban big clubs from vacuuming up talent from smaller teams. Maybe some sort of cap on wages under the age of 19-20. You'll see more Dele Alli's coming through. Can't help but think of all the wasted, potentially world class youngsters at Chelsea there are at the moment. |

I don't think it's to do with quality, because their record in qualifying for tournaments is fantastic.
I just think it's a mental thing when it comes to tournaments. However, let's give Southgate a chance, he's had experience of winning a tournament with England U21s. And I like what he's been doing with the first team so far. In Alli and Rashford, we have potentially a couple of World class superstars, that can make a difference.
