It's weird that the entire future of the franchise rests on whether CBB20 is a flop or not.

If it gets decent ratings then BB will be renewed and we'll have at least 3 more years of BB on channel 5.

If it flops then it will either be axed or enter a new era by becoming an online show and going back to its roots with live feed etc.

Interesting times girls!

They will know that, it's their reliance on running the show into the ground which has resulted in the constant desperation for conflict and ratings chasing ironically.

It's a shame that this is the end though, I've grown up with BB and I'll be really sad to see it go because of the nostalgia it has for me.

BB18 has proven though that there's no more life in the show

Can't see the franchise being renewed across any of the uk terrestrial channels. It's stale with an ever diminishing viewership. So the maximum it has got to run is next year.

If it moved to online delivery it would need to be fresh and interesting for it to be feasible, and if that were the case, there is just no reason for it to be linked to BB.

The format itself isn't stale, it's CH5's version of it that is.

The format is clearly stale, that's why they have changed it over the years, attempting to keep it fresh. The problem they have is that its morphed into something that is now unwatchable for the majority. Once that point is reached it just isn't recoverable. Back to basics for example, just won't cut it.

I'm actually beginning to think maybe it is the format that is stale? Like I wouldn't have said that during BB15 as I thought that series was a one-off, but it's just gotten worse and worse each year and my interest in the show has faded really quickly since then. The show's no longer fresh or original anymore and the novelty wore off years ago.

That's not to say that the abysmal production hasn't also played a massive part in why this show has gone to ****, because it has. But I'm just over the show in general at this point. I haven't watched any of BB18 in like over 3 weeks and the last civilian series I watched fully was BB15.

I dont believe this, if channel 4 were to pick it up again (which i doubt would happen, who knows) and start using the old eye and original strict rules, move the show to the winter so its not up againt other main reality tv shows, axe the 2 cbb's a year and stick to a basic house and no OTT theme, axe bit on the side and run live feed on E4 (that airs crap and repeats during the day) and start casting the old way with non reality tv stars it could run for a while again. The c5 version has always felt very tacky to me yet the C4 version didnt. Ive never liked the way C5 theme the show and cast for the show. 90% of the themes they do they never follow through with on C5 like this years "culture clash" with eople from all different walks of life from across the uk. They are all z-listers with agents and have nearly all done some other form of reality tv.

I don't think the format is stale. the production is just bad, there's too many Z-Listers on civilian BB, (I love Channers but she should have been on CBB), and the lack of live feed which has drove former viewers away. They're to blame for the show being in this state ratings -wise

There were like 3 boring episodes last week but since then it's picked up and been really good. Also Sukhvinder, Isabelle, Sue, Chanelle and maybe even Arthur are top 25 housemates in my opinion.

Yeah I don't really find the format stale because Channel 5 doesn't even attempt to try and follow the format properly in the first place.is definitely tired though
It needs have a break, attempt to go back to C4-era level of production, follow the format CORRECTLY with live feed and following the main concept of BB rather than using it as a cross promotional tool for EOTB etc

If that's the case this year it'll probably be lower than BB14

It will be sad if the show gets cancelled, but hopefully it will lead onto better things. Such as a new channel and producers who actually care.

I really like it too. I wish it had better ratings, it doesn't deserve to be the least viewed.
