Default Ignorant resident who thinks he is above the rules

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...cting-bag.html

Ignorant resident is trying to bully a bin man into collecting rubbish he has put on the floor by throwing around, no surprises folks, the ‘racist’ word.

A prime example of how to try and put yourself above the rules, we are all aware of regarding collecting rubbish, by being a nasty, snide, predicable old bully. The council should refuse to collect his rubbish from now on.

Attacks and abuse of rubbish men have hit all-time high

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/late...ll-time-record

They are taking the flak from homeowners fed up with rules on recycling.

Rubbish collectors were punched, driven into, spat at, threatened with knives and even battered with bins.

A survey of councils found there were 175 incidents of physical and verbal abuse last year.

The figure is up 27% in four years with 68 incidents of refuse collectors physically attacked.

Some were assaulted after householders were told they had sorted their rubbish for * recycling incorrectly, while *others were abused because people were annoyed extra bin bags were not taken away.

There were also a number of “road rage” incidents by *drivers stuck behind trucks.

The service has been stripped to the bare minimum to the point that it's not fit for purpose in many areas. 3 weekly or even monthly collections. Bins overflowing, flies, maggots, rats... It's horrendous.

People are rightly angry about that but, of course, there's never an excuse for violence and also it's not the bin mens fault - they have zero say in these things - sadly some people are too thick to understand that part.

Tory Austerity and cuts is at the heart of it, once again. Like I said there's no excuse for violence - but cuts so deep that they lead to a breakdown in basic services is going to cause civil unrest to some degree. Basic economics .

The Tories are to blame for this recycling fetish?

Maybe, but anyone trying to use things such as race to intimidate the poor bin men is a pathetic coward. He is lucky the bin man had more self-control and class than him, and didn’t punch the creep.

The Tories are to blame for cutting funds to local councils who, to save money, have had to resort to cutting bin collections.

well they seem to have enough money to give each resident at least 4 more bins and buy new vans to deal with the variety, also to completely redesign every council dump and buy countless recycling things for bottles in every supermarket car park??

Recycling has been going on here for ages, I don't think it's entirely the problem. When it was recycling every two weeks, other trash every two weeks, on alternating weeks we never had a problem. Now green bins are down to one collection a month and this summer has been a nightmare for flies, wasps, mice etc.

More than two weeks is simply too long to have old garbage sitting in a bin. It doesn't matter how much of it there is. Even if it's just one bag sat in the bottom of the wheel bin - it needs removed before it starts to fester. Councils are failing badly on this but at the end of the day, most councils are flat broke, and that's largely down to austerity.

The only reason this story angered you is because of the racial slur. Its not a topic but another "how fckuing dare they" rant. What they did was unnecessary and uncalled for but lets not make this another rant against Muslims when there was at least another 175 reported incidents last year. Instead of talking about just these men in particular, let's try and look at the larger picture.

This was the story I came across and therefore the one I commented on. It could equally be argued that your interest ‘in the bigger picture’ is about pointing fingers solely in the direction of the Tories and ‘austerity’ and divert attention away from individuals using ‘racism’ slurs to bully employees to do their bidding enabled by the current PC culture. The man behaved appallingly.

No, I just refuse to join a topic that only wants to talk about Asians being racist towards whites... with you. Carry on being outraged but keep in mind, its you who has shown hate and distrust towards Muslims... It just doesn't sit right with me.

Oh and there is a bigger topic to be had from this, so instead of making this into a twofold rant, why don't we just expand?

And for the record I would have reacted the same way to any idiot trying to bully powerless employees with racist slurs. To try and imply otherwise is pure conjecture!

All 3 of my bins are collected weekly.

I don't know why we don't do what they do in parts of Europe, including many parts of France. At the end of each road, they have large color-coded cylindrical tanks that often sit partially underground. The bin men don't have to drive slowly up and down each street but go to just these designated places with specialized lifting machinery.

I hate wheely bins with a passion. They take up pavement space, they are ugly and they often get stolen, so they are expensive.

I hate people who cry racist tbh. There was a story a few weeks back about a woman who did not have the correct fare for the bus, so the driver told her she had to get off. She reckoned it was because he was racist as there was only one other black person on the bus. mental really

The binmen round here ARE absolute dickheads though. I know the ridiculous fortnightly collections and that are not their fault, but they have a terrible attitude and randomly refuse to empty bins when there is no problem with whats inside...no idea why they do that.

It does make a lot more sense really. I mean, single people working full time get the same size of bin (as standard) as a family of 5... So the family's bin is overflowing while the other one only has one or two small bags at the bottom. It's stupid. A larger communal thing makes much more sense.

It may be different in Scotland but where I live those with a larger family can get more bins. It is stupid not to take the size of households into account.

Yes this is a huge issue. we have asked for an other bin and been told we can buy one, but the binmen wont have to empty it if they dont chose to! Which sounds stupid

There are 2 adults, 2 kids through the week. And 2 adults and FIVE kids every weekend. And we get one bin, the same as the lady who lives across the road who is on her own. We sometimes use hers (after asking) but a letter has been sent round chastising people for letting other people use their bins, and saying they may refuse to empty bins because of this too. Why, I dont ****ing know, pathetic.

Its absolutely crazy! Sometimes it feels as though we are going backward. Our recycling is diabolical compared to other European countries. Our roads are a mess. Our street lights often get turned off from midnight, when people really need them and yet our rates reliably go up

This is the sort of thing they have in the French Alps https://www.theneweconomy.com/busine...r-city-streets

You only get a key to these bins if you are a resident of the street they are on.

This ^ is unbelievable. Do you think they're doing this because they believe, the fewer bins you have and the fewer collections you have, the less rubbish you will make?!

Well exactly. Its just stupid.

All that happens is we have to store rubbish bags in the shed and the night before colelctions run about putting our bags into other people in the streets bins. Some people won't let us anymore eithert, because of the letter that got sent round about it. What harm does it do anyone if a larger family uses other peoples (usually fairly empty) bins?!

Exactly same round our way.Our old bin men were proper sound. You could go out with extra bags and lob em in the back of the lorry. They’d say “yeah just chuck it in” and smile. They’d chat with you too.
Our new ones are proper dickheads. No extra bags, randomly forget your bin(they did it this week) and come at different times.First time we left and extra bag out they put some f’king sticker on the bin and told me “No overspill” so i said can i chuck it in and they wouldn’t let me.
