There has been speculation of a gimmick change but i think its to late for that to happen for Mania

Apparently Rusev asked for his release so they added him to the US Title match so he may regain the title?

WrestleTalk reported that they added him because his Rusev Day t-shirts became the best-sellers on WWE Shop as did the Rusev Day calendars, like overnight.

It took that, and not the amazing reaction from the fans each and every week, for them to change their mind. I despair.
