Default Still no cull?

'The number of beds in homeless shelters has plummeted since the Conservatives came to power, despite homelessness having soared in the same period, The Independent has learnt.

Bed space for single homeless people in England has dropped by almost a fifth since 2010 amid government funding cuts and local council belt-tightening.

There are now significantly fewer places for single homeless people to go, despite the number needing somewhere to spend the night having rocketed. Since 2010, homelessness and rough sleeping have risen in every year.'

I know I get accused of conspiracy theories, but how is this anything else than a drive to rid homelessness not via support and services but literally freezing them out?...

So tell me Kizzy do you expect the taxpayer to provide homes for all those young men jumping on trucks to get here who have no legal entitlement to be here?

To be fair, there's a difference between providing homes and providing a bed and shelter from the elements. At the very least, no one should have to sleep literally on the street.

Careful, IMPARTIAL analysis of the hard FACTS behind slanted articles such as these will ALWAYS expose the utter B.S.

most homeless are not people seeking refuge from other countries. they are people from the united kingdom.

the cull is in full sing and all those who voted conservative must agree with whats happening.

There was a small organised crew up in Dundee when I lived there, the Glasgow ones are at least more competent than them.

I had the same girl ask me for bus fare to visit her sick baby in hospital two or three times a week for nearly 4 years.

Oh and I also had two guys use the same story at opposite ends of the same street. That was sort of confusing because they also looked similar. Glitch in the Matrix

Sorry TS - They are grown men who are intentionally illegally entering our country and have no right to be here. We are under no obligation to provide them with anything other than deportation.

what about people who pretend to be homeless to garner money from young people who think they are being charitable?

Britain has enough of its own homeless for it to be a problem. Shipping off foreigners won't make homelessness disappear.

Not really the point. They are illegal and should be deported.

We're not under any obligation but, in extreme weather (like we had in feb / march) at least trying to provide shelter to people who genuinely will be sleeping outdoors is surely the moral thing to do? I mean there's a pretty big grey area between "setting them up with a home" and "not letting a human being die in the snow".

In this thread it is the point. It's about homelessness, not immigration. Even if you deport foreigners, there will be enough British homeless for it to be a problem.

It would be a smaller problem though!

more churches should be opened to them; also heard some councils want to use empty shop premises.
But I wouldn't count on much, TS. The country and its people are going through a callous period at the moment.
