yes i dont know if theres one on this one but who celebrates them I do as i go to our local church for bonfire night and for Halloween i take the younger kids round our area for trick or treat they blooming love it too so who else celebrates these then

I haven't been trick or treating for years now as so many people shout at you now which is understandable. I look at it as being rather cheeky now asking people for money and sweets when you might not even know them.

well i would love to but no one i know gives a stuff.When I was little my mam used to buy me loads of halloween stuff like themed sweets and little toys and stuff and hide them in the house somewhere lol.I really enjoyed that.
I always want to get a pumpkin as well or throw a fancy dress party but no one i mention it to ever cares so i dont bother

I'm going up to Pendle Hill for this halloween maybe - I usually spend it watching Most Haunted Live with my mum but this year I'm by myself (/with friends).

Bonfire night, probs won't do much - usually go see the local bonfire but my new house in Durham doesn't have one, and my uni doesn't organise one I can't imagine.

I never bother with Hallowe'en and Bonfire Night as much now as I did when I was a kid. At Hallowe'en I used to go to my Nanna's with a turnip lantern and a witch's hat or go trick-or-treating with my brother and his friends.

On Bonfire Night there was a display when we were little and once they stopped doing that we'd have a party with my uncles and their families when the children were younger.

We might celebrate both again once little Natasha's a bit older, we feel she's still too young to appreciate things like that yet but in the next year or two, who knows?

I wanted to go to Tredegar House (haunted house in cardiff) for halloween as I went last year, and it was utterly amazing. So scary though, people chase with you masks and chainsaws and werewolves to vampires, theres all sorts. But I couldn't go this year as it was fully booked, so I'll be probally just be going out trick or treating with my friends from my street. It's all a good laugh. As for Bonfire Night, I usually go to a display to see fireworks and a guy fawkes, but this year I want to do something different to celebrate it. Anyone got any ideas or know any events that are happening on Bonfire Night?

well im going to our local church one callum they do it very well too plus anything they sell us goes to the church fund so ask you local church if theve got one on

There are a couple of parties around Hallowe’en (with Hallowe’en themed costumes, of course), but I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing as I might be going to visit relatives/family friends etc. in Wales and London around a similar time.

When I was younger though I’d just go trick or treating, or spend a pretty annoying evening having to answer the door a million times and handing out treats (I’m one of those people who can’t just hear the bell ring constantly). Also, I was afraid the kids in our neighbourhood would throw stuff! I moved house recently though and didn’t have to put up with that last year.

For Bonfire night, I’m just coincidentally staying at a friend’s for the weekend since she’s planned to do something when all of our friends are free (we’re at different colleges now). And I think loads of people are going to see a fireworks display on Sunday night, so that should be good. Last year we went to a bonfire, and it was fun because there was a funfair as well (which was pretty amusing). So I’m hoping this year’s will be good even though it’s a different event.

So I wouldn't say I 'celebrate' them at all, but because there seem to be more and more things going on around the time, I do take part.

Ash I get that all the time on Halloween night so i go and get a massive bag of sweets just to give the kids but i never give them money

When I was at my old house, I used to give them money but that was ages ago and ONLY when I literally had no sweets to give out!
Other times I made sure I did actually have sweets.

Trick or treating is a strange thing...
You knock on the door and say trick or treat? and mostly they just get out some sweets/chocolate, or my grandad used to give random kids in the area 20p or something.

They don't even answer the question the majority of the time, and if someone was to say "trick" most kids would stand there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.

People might as well just knock on doors and beg for food and money. Change the event from Halloween to "Charity Cases you've never met before wanting your money and food Day"
Plus it's odd how only young people get away with demanding food on your doorstep? We let people get away with things based on age, and pay for things based on age.

When I was younger it was fun.
Now im older I wonder why im under any obligation to give strangers kids food or money, and for what? to celebrate witchcraft? >_<

Bonfire night I usually find the biggest fireworks display in the area [preferably free, as paying to stand in a field seems wrong to me.] then go out and get drunk afterwards. Halloween may just involve a Halloween themed fancy dress party, or just going out and getting drunk whilst bumping into random dressed up people.

I used to love Halloween but now it's pretty much an excuse to get drunk at a party. This year though I'm not doing anything upto now, hopefully somebody will organise a party otherwise I'll be doing nothing.

Bonfire night we set a load of fireworks off in our street, we usually get a lot of people to ours for bonfire night.

Sorry, you make some really really good points but I really need to clarify this.

Hallowe'en has NOTHING to do with witchraft originally (and witchcraft actually has nothing to do with black magic, or potions etc... witchcraft simply means the ability to change elements such as fire, water etc). Anyway... went off one one then...

Hallowe'en isn't anything to do with witchcraft, it's paganism. It's Gaelic history comes from "Samhain" which is the festival in which they believe two worlds overlap and we need to stock up for it (which is where the traidition of bobbing apples on Hallowe'en comes from too).
