I think I've mentioned numerous times why Jen is partly to blame. Yes, it's true that Dale & Stuart barged in aggressively when it was completely uncalled for - after all, they went in at a point when everything had more or less calmed down. However, if Jen had actually advocated that point rather than crying even more and - almost putting on a show - I would have respected her far more. To add to that, she didn't even acknowledge the fact that Rex had apologised over his 'silly mistake' (his own words) several times. It got to the point where she was just repeating herself for the sake of it. I do think that the situation got to its extent because of underlying problems, and not solely for its trigger - i.e. the painting. But I do honestly think that the fact that this situation revolved around Jen means it got to its magnitude - if it had been the other way round, however, I doubt most of the house would have batted an eyelid. She certainly doesn't deserve the hate and nasty comments, I agree - especially because they're nothing to do with anything. But I thought I'd explain fully why her actions might be perceived the way they are.
On top of that, she seemed to be condoning Dennis' actions, as I think I've mentioned in another thread. Her 'justice will be served' comments post Dennis' ejection was completely unnecessary. If she were a nicer person, she'd have just comforted Sylvia and realised how awful the act itself was. Instead, her natural reaction was to become aggressive (something she accuses others of being, which is ironic considering all Dale & Stu were being was aggressive. She has real double standards). Also, later on in a conversation with Darnell she said that the only reason Mo was crying was because he was up for eviction. I wonder if she'd have sat there and thanked whoever spat on her for doing so?! Nobody deserves to have something like that done to them, especially not over something so trivial. Mo could have resorted to violence, thereby getting ejected too.
After having time to reflect on the situation, I think Jen realised that what Dennis did was truly wrong. I don't hate her so much for being a bitch - because there have been plenty of housemates like that, but it's just the entire way she chooses to deal with situations. I think the damage is done for most of the public, and it is too late to turn back - either fortunately or unfortunately - whichever way you choose to look at it.
