Six possible reasons.
1. He's bored with her. He's used up all the conversation she has to offer, and looking at her tits doesn't do it for him anymore. 2. He isn't bored with her, but he's too used to being chased rather than having to do the chasing. He's playing hard-to-get. 3. He's genuinely in a dilemma. He likes to play the field, but she's touched deeper feelings in him. If he stays away from her for a while maybe he can return to his old ways and be a player again. 4. He's suddenly remembered he's in a competition, and he's worried about being evicted. He thinks the public might be tired of the romance, tired of her, tired of him. A fresh start is needed. 5. He's repelled by her drunken behaviour the other night. He's thinking, if she has to show her squidge to anyone, it should be him. He's starting to suspect she might be anyone's for the price of a drink. 6. The one he really fancies is Noirin. But he knows he can't just dump Doggers. He has to make a show of heart-searching for a few days at least. Then he can sort of sidle up to Noirin and start discussing his problems with her, as if she's his agony aunt.... Which is it? I honestly don't know. But I'm intrigued to find out. That's why I want them both to stay for a while. |
