Moosical monikers at community farm
SOME of the biggest names in showbusiness are available to meet the public seven days a week in Gwent.

Liza Minelli, Tom Jones, Gareth Gates, Arnold Schwarzenegger... all kept in fields and eating grass at Cwmbran's Greenmeadow Community Farm.

A new survey by the National Farmers' Union revealed that farmers across the country are abandoning names like Daisy and Buttercup for their herd, and instead are naming them after film and pop stars.

And staff at the community farm are no exception. Attractions manager Des Fwordf said: "Traditionally our animals are always named by our staff and volunteers.

"Every animal that we get has a name. Some are traditional, some aren't, but it's a good way of identifying them.

"A Welsh black called Gareth, after Gareth Gates, a calf called Elizabeth, after the Queen - we got her at the beginning of the year and she was named for the Golden Jubilee year.

"There's Jade the pig, named after the girl from Big Brother.

"We've also got a calf called Helen, after Cwmbran's Helen Adams who almost won Big Brother last year, and her mum is called Princess Anne!"

Other famous names at the farm include a middle white boar called Arnie (Schwarzenegger), Tom (Jones) the Welsh Black bull, and Lily (Savage), Judy (Garland) and Liza (Minelli) the llamas.

The two male llamas are more regal - William and Harry.
