Hello everyone. I stopped by DS:BB for the first time in ages and felt compelled to post.

First of all: sheeesh, do some of you guys get personal in here; about each other and the Housemates.

Cameron is who he is. He lives his life in the way that he does because he believes that it makes him a 'good person'. So do I. Whatever we all personally believe, I hope that we can all respect others' belief systems too.

Over the course of the last six months I have apologised to Ray, Justine and Cameron for things that I have said or done. You tend to think of us as the people we were in the House, but we have all grown, learned and moved on from this experience.

It's a strange experience to be socialising with a friend and to have to discuss a report that you don't get on with that person. I count twelve fantastic people as friends and I enjoy spending time in their company. End of story. I for one couldn't remember why I was supposed to dislike some people and so didn't anymore.

Anyway, to respond to some other points in this thread:

Average intelligence is defined as having an IQ of 100. I am in that half of the population with above average intelligence, given that I have an IQ above 100. How much above, I won't say and very few people know.

However, if when you say "I think he has average intelligence" you actually mean "I think he has an intelligence that I would consider average amongst my [your own] peer group or circle of friends" then yes, you're probably right. Then we're just into a pissing contest about who has the brainiest mates though, and I'm not sure where it would get us.

I have a third class honours degree in Physics from the University of Leicester. Not that great, but then again I do have a slightly odd record of never having revised for an exam in my life. You can see the effect that this had on my grades: I had an award for the best GCSE results in my school and ended up getting a Third. Mind you, given the calibre of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Leicester University, I've always thought that a Third there was worth a lot more than a higher grade from another institution. In my day, you used to be able to look through a large window in the JCR and watch people building satellites. The National Space Centre was built in Leicester for a reason.

Lastly, when I said "we have all the answers" I was actually quoting someone else. I did mean scientists, by the way. Although I'm not a practising scientist, I don't often listen to the right side of my brain. I'm pretty sure that I uttered the phrase in the last two weeks in the House..

During my three week break from the House, I took part in a Tomorrow's World Roadshow. Gaz Top was there and we were discussing what it was like to be called a nerd.

He said, "In the end, does it matter (if we are called nerds)? We have all the answers. Better that way than the other!" I thought that it was a brilliant attitude to have, so I quoted him.

We all have something that we do, whether it is stamp collecting, birdwatching, bowling, watching TV, going to church, camping or playing the accordian, that someone, somewhere would consider 'nerdish'. By that definition we are all nerds. So what? I'm comfortable with who I am and given that I assume that I'm not actually harming anyone by being me, I'm going to keep on being me and be proud of it at the same time. So should you all, my dears! ;-)

See you in a few months!

Jon
