Carole happy with Chanelle's departure

Carole has reiterated her opinion that Chanelle made the right decision in leaving the house.

After moaning that the student had always been upset about something, she confided to Ziggy that she was happy Chanelle left when she did.

"To be honest, I am glad that she went, and I think Gerry is of the same view, because she wouldn't have coped well within this environment now," she remarked, as the pair chatted by the pool bar this afternoon.

When Ziggy agreed that Chanelle "wouldn't have done amazingly", the health worker continued to explain why her departure was a sensible choice: "You can recapture it if that's what you both want and start afresh outside. [But] if she'd have remained here, one of you would've gone anyway or gone absolutely [mad] and you wouldn't have been able to continue...ever again."

Ziggy seemed reluctant to make any negative comments about his former love interest, saying: "I'll see what happens when we get out. I have missed her...and that's evident on my side but I'll see what happens when I see her."

Carole then speculated on Chanelle's popularity in the outside world, musing: "It depends how she's coped with stuff. If you've got a biggish fan base out there who liked you, they would've been really upset by what was going on...and while shocked, might have been pleased that she'd gone."

Ziggy again attempted to see the positive side of the 'relationship', saying the couple had a "huge" advantage in being together from the start of the show.

"Don't do yourself down, though," Carole urged. "'Cos you would've been a different person [if you hadn't been together]. I think you may have actually been in a situation where, had that not happened, you'd have got to know all of us and you may not have latched on to anyone."
