BAFTA luvvies fumed at Kate Middleton last night for failing to wear black to back their campaign highlighting sex harassment.
But the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge instead wore a green Jenny Packham gown — prompting gasps among actors and film executives on the red carpet. There was complete silence and no applause when 36-year-old Kate entered London’s Royal Albert Hall alongside Bafta president husband Prince William, 35. Insiders believe Kate, who had a black bag and whose £3,000 dress had black detailing with a black sash around the waist, chose to opt out to avoid being seen as political. But one guest at the showbiz bash demanded: “How is supporting equality for women political?” Another said loudly: “She shouldn’t have bothered turning up if she couldn’t wear black.” Viewers watching at home were also unimpressed. They took to social media to share their views on Kate’s fashion decisions. One wrote: “Disappointed in #KateMiddleton #DuchessofCambridge not wearing black to the #EEBAFTAs. It’s not a political thing. It’s a woman thing! #TimesUp #StandTogether.” Another tweeted: “How does Kate not feel any shame sitting right at the front with a green dress while every other woman is wearing black. https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbi...he-reason-why/ |
