TELLY couple Richard and Judy have officially QUIT their teatime Channel 4 show, The Sun can reveal.

The husband and wife duo will front their final programme on their famous sofa together at the end of next summer – just as we predicted.

The announcement from the former This Morning couple brings to an end two decades of live TV.

A spokesman for the pair said: “After 20 years of presenting live daytime television, Richard and Judy have called time.”

But he added they would still feature on Channel 4 with special shows linked to their popular book club.

The pair will also develop other TV projects together – but Judy, 59, is expected to wind down telly work.


She is set to write books, while Richard, 51, plans to pursue a solo TV career.

Pals of the couple said the decision to leave C4 was entirely theirs – though insiders have suggested bosses were not planning to renew their contract at the end of 2008.

We revealed back in May the pair were not expected to sign a new deal.

Top brass are keen to try out new shows in their 5pm slot, which has regularly pulled in just under two million viewers since the pair quit ITV’s This Morning after 13 years in 2001.
