PR guru predicts Cerys Matthews will make £1m

CERYS MATTHEWS could earn more than £1m in the next year off the back of her appearance on I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, it was predicted last night.

Top PR guru Max Clifford said the former Catatonia front- woman’s jungle adventure will make her hot property over the next 12 months.

The 38-year-old singer was evicted on Thursday night but her relationship with former Eastenders actor Marc Bannerman has been one of the main talking points of this year’s series.

Bannerman, who had a girlfriend of two-and-a-half-years going into the jungle, and Matthews spent most of the first two weeks flirting with each other before he was evicted.

And Clifford believes the pair’s relationship will have increased her appeal to the media when she returns back home.

Clifford said, “It’s a win-win situation for Cerys. I’d expect her to have signed a big deal with one of the Sunday newspapers and she could make £1m in the next year if she has the right representation when she comes out.

“I’ve no doubt it’ll revitalise her career, [the relationship with Bannerman] could mean even more money for the pair of them.

“It could be like Preston and Chantelle all over again.”

Reports suggest Cerys has signed a deal worth £75,000 with a Sunday newspaper after a bidding war broke out. Many thought Bannerman would have been waiting in Australia for her after eviction but Matthews was disappointed.

He wrote a letter to her, which said, “There are many problems in London and I’ve had to go back to try to sort them out – but I may well return to greet you when you come out, if that is your wish. Marc.” She later sent a message back to him through the Bush

Bookies’ favourite Christopher Biggins was crowned King of the Jungle last night with former supermodel Janice Dickinson in second and 90s boyband star Jason “J” Brown in third.

Telegraph which read, “I’d love him to come out if that’s what he thinks is a good idea, because he knows all the answers now. I don’t want to make any more mess than I’ve maybe already made.”

But on Thursday the Welsh singer was told that Bannerman was not there after all.

The mother-of-two – she has a four-year-old daughter Glenys Pearl Y-Felin and a two-year-old son called Johnny Tupelo Jones – told Ant and Dec, “I’m a bit gutted he’s not here, actually. But I have got my kids waiting for me.”

Asked when she realised she was first attracted to him, Matthews said, “We got on well from the beginning. We started spending more time together and it was like, ‘Oh, shoot’, because it’s not right, is it?”

Asked if the situation had been “intensified” in the jungle, she replied, “I will have to tell you that when I get out. It is certainly a special place – and you forget about everything else.”

Chantelle Houghton and Samuel Preston married after meeting on reality television show Celebrity Big Brother, despite a high-profile and lucrative relationship the pair were divorced after 10 months.
