I guess that would be my point. Imagine what a volcano eruption does to its surrounding atmosphere and to the air quality for people and animals living in the area... then consider what that would do to the entire planet and it's inhabitants. Makes no sense. Unless you're going for a survival of the fittest mass world population cull... that's a whole other store though

The other option would for people around the world - not just in one country - to radically alter their lifestyles. It would mean emerging economies being kept back also, and this is all very unlikely to happen.
