Becks: Which side is he on?

DAVID BECKHAM has again proved he isn’t shy about showing off his tackle.

This new Armani ad of him has sent our gaydar haywire. In the past Goldenballs has stepped out in a skirt, worn his wife’s thongs and regularly waxes and tweezes – so CAROLINE IGGULDEN asked gay TV presenter and Big Brother winner Brian Dowling to study the evidence and give his authoritative view.

Just whose side is Becks on?

THIS picture is so camp it is unbelievable.

Becks is lying there, legs wide open, letting everything hang out – no wonder Victoria Beckham has taken to smiling nowadays.

When Beckham posed on that shoot, there is no way that no one pointed out that it all looked a little homo-erotic.

Straight men just don’t wear pants like that.

And they certainly don’t buy them.

But that’s the thing about David Beckham.

He does things straight men wouldn’t dream of doing.

He has worn a skirt, nail varnish and a hair band.

It has even been rumoured he likes wearing his wife’s knickers!

Becks takes care of himself, there is no doubt about that.

Painful

He had clearly had a bikini wax in the Armani picture.

I have had one and I can tell you it is pretty painful.

But they say no pain, no gain and David is clearly happy to put the work in to look good – another stereotypically gay trait.

I bet he has tanning, eyebrow shaping, eyelash tinting, the whole lot – and why the hell not?

Lots of gay men who work hard on their six-packs like to show off their bodies.

And Becks clearly hasn’t got a problem getting out his pecs.

He has even worn white Speedos on the beach before, something I would never dare to do.

Becks has a huge gay fanbase and he has always been good to them.

He has appeared with Posh at London nightclub G.A.Y. and posed in gay mag Attitude.

Shrewd Becks knows sex sells and gay men love to shop.

We spend a lot of money on underwear.

I spent £250 on pants just last week.

And this advert will ensure Armani pants will top the list of every gay man’s Christmas list, including mine.

If they make me look like that then I definitely want a pair.

We are used to seeing female underwear models sexily reclining in these kinds of shots.

But Becks has no problems taking up that pose.

I think there are probably quite a lot of straight men on building sites looking at this picture today and feeling quite shocked.

But gay men will be going wild for the advert, I can guarantee.

It is like Christmas has come early.

This image will instantly become the screen saver of choice for gay men everywhere.

Posh is so lucky: She has a lover, husband and gay best friend all rolled into one.

I bet he gives her fantastic advice on what to wear and how she looks in outfits.

I read the other day that Posh said she sometimes feels like a gay man trapped in a straight man’s body which I though was hilarious.

So maybe Becks is her gay lover after all?

Becks is the number one icon for gay men.

He undoubtedly has fans who, year after year, have blown out their birthday candles and wished for Becks to be gay.

But sadly their wish will never come true.

Wagging

Becks is a red-blooded, football-loving, heterosexual man who is crazy about his wife.

It is true that in many ways Becks would make the perfect gay man.

But he manages to be camp in a very masculine way.

He knows behaviour like this is going to set tongues wagging about his sexuality, but he doesn’t care, and that is what is so brilliant about him.

He is so comfortable with himself he isn’t worried about speculation.

If Becks really was a closet homosexual, there is no way he would dare to do things that looked so gay.

The only way David Beckham will be caught in a gay man’s bedroom is as a pin-up on the wall.
