the only way they could do it was by nationalising Open Reach which is the company that provides the infrastructure for broadband throughout the country, and it has already been split off from BT so that it is competitive to all the broadband providers. It's a flawed proposal, its a sound bite, nothing more.

lets also not forget all the existing broadband providers that would see their business disappear over night.
