Hi all - PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS!
It is not often (in fact very rarely) that I ask my friends to come out in support of charity. As many of you may already know I am Patron of Crusaid a charity very close to my heart! "Crusaid exists to make a difference to people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS. We relieve poverty and illness caused by the virus, educate, and support vaccine research through independent fundraising and grant making." To be honest they do far more and it would be great if you take just a few minutes out your very busy schedules to take a look at their website: http://www.crusaid.org.uk/ Anyway the point of this email is to ask if you are willing to give up one Sunday this year and do their annual fund raising event the "Walk for Life". It truly is a great afternoon out with a 10 km stroll passing though some of London's most famous landmarks. The bonus for all you drinkers is that there are 43 pubs that line the route and to be honest we try and make a fair few of them. The date is Sunday 19th June, its not a hell of a lot to ask and (as long as it is not raining) it is truly great fun. There is even a party / cabaret / funfair at the end of the walk i.e. more alcohol. Check out the event at : http://www.walkforlife.co.uk NB !! Now for all your people who truly and honestly really do have other commitments on that day then I would ask you make a donation to the charity of £50.00 ! It may seem a hell of a lot but it is fact only 96 pence per week spread across a year! Come on one drink down the pub costs more! (buy the way if you are already walking or donating through someone else then good on yer as I don't expect any more money) BUT £50 could pay for a warm home and a hot meal for 10 weeks for someone in poverty and in dire need of our help OR £50 could give an HIV positive mother bottles and sterilising equipment for formula feeding, so she can protect her baby from the virus in her breast milk. I have made it even easier for you to donate by creating my individual web address: http://www.walkforlife.co.uk/OutletGroup Just go there and make a donation and you can even leave a message. I have put my money where my mouth is and started the ball rolling by sponsoring myself. And check out the amount of Tax Relief they get back from the Government if you are a UK tax payer - worth making a donation on that notion alone! And to be honest if £50 is too much (as many of you do already give to many other charities) then anything you can afford will help - I and all of Crusaid are just extremely grateful for your support. The biggest wishes and a whole lot of love! Josh xx |
