Bad employer.
The path to progression - despite what some people would have you believe - is not hard work. "Hard workers" get stuck doing the role that they're doing efficiently... because they're doing it efficiently. The key to progression is smart work, good ideas, and demonstrating a valuable understanding of the role and organisation. If you have those, and you're not being given the opportunity to show it, get out ASAP.
My xmas advice. Value and back yourself and good things will happen.

Thanks QB for the advice. I’m sad how things have panned out, I knew it would eventually happen but there are a few people there with huge egos (especially the higher up’s) and all it’s doing is just dragging the company down and causing a poor morale amongst the staff. They’ve recently held a consultation process in another department and they asked the people at risk in this department to come up with suggestions as to how to improve things. Some people made suggestions and put them forward but the people in charge weren’t bothered at all as they heard them out but still chose to go their own way instead.
I agree tbh I think I’ve reached my limit here in terms of progression and I think the only reason why I’m going to apply for the job that they’re offering is so it can bide me a bit of time to look elsewhere. What you mentioned about hard workers getting stuck in a role because they’re efficient is exactly how I feel atm and I think I’m worth more than that. I want to better myself and actually do job that I can be a bit proud of, at this firm I can’t really see that happening.
