Default big brother: a step too far

i have just watched a program called the curse of big brother. it relives clips of the first 6 series, and shows that, whilst many have attempted, and failed, to use the show as a platform to fame, all they have got is a life long curse that will haunt them.

in this topic, i ask has big brother gone too far in seeking entertainment? are channel 4 to blame for the sex fuelled antics, the apparent racist bullying, the media vilification, the physicla attacks and the mental humiliation and physcological deterioration of housemates in the now infamous house? is this due to channel 4 constantly meddeling, or is this just a microchosm of society that, as first intended, shows how nasty people can be?

big brother started out as a social experiment, and descended into entertainment. the rich and poor divide was nothing more than channel 4 trying to be outrageous. is channel 4 to blame for the behaviour of the contestants, or is this just the way some people are.

the media have ripped big brother apart, but is channel 4 truly to blame, a victim of their own desire for outrageousness, or is it the contestants just being generally fairly mean and ugly people, something channel 4 cant really control
