But why shouldn't we be proud of our habit ? It's our habit, we know it's bad, but still. I have that addiction, you may have an addiction to chocolate or ice-cream, at the end of the day, they're habits that people should respect.

I'm not going to be polite about something I feel strongly about. That might sound snotty, but whatever. My question is -- why, of all things, would you be proud of smoking? Are you proud of harming your lungs and making your clothes stink of smoke? Are you proud of puffing out that harmful smoke? Cigarette/tobacco smoke can spread across a distance that you'd be suprised at. I'd just hate to be smoking in a room where there might be little children and infants, as well as adults, standing by.
I'm sure you're a nice guy, but I disagree with what you're doing to yourself.

In all fairness EVERYBODY has a vice. It just so happens that some people's is smoking. I don't see a problem if the smoker is not near the non-smoker.
I am getting to a stage where smoking is annoying me, and I want to give up, but I won't have an issue with others who smoke.
