A domesticated chimp has gone missing in California after escaping his cage.
42-year-old Moe, who is toilet-trained and can eat with a knife and fork, was last seen on Friday heading for a nearby mountain.
Owners St. James and LaDonna Davis contracted a helicopter to fly over San Bernardino National Forest 50 miles east of Los Angeles but found nothing.
"We think he may be hunkered down near a water source," said a spokesman for the couple. "We think he's in a contained area a quarter-mile away but he's probably disoriented."
He added that they do not think Moe is in any danger: "His survival instincts would probably kick in, even though he's been in captivity for a long time."
