Bookmaker William Hill has taken a bet of just £1 on the perma-tanned former television presenter to win the show.
The 66-year-old disappeared from our screens in 2004 after writing a newspaper article describing Arabs as "suicide bombers, limb amputators, women repressors". He was sacked from his BBC daytime show and is now an independent MEP.
"Kilroy is the obvious figure of fun and you can be sure that viewers will want him to do a large number of Bushtucker trials," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
The former Labour MP denies that his appearance on the ITV1 show is aimed at reviving his television career, claiming he currently has "a very good life".
However, he remains bitter that he was sacked by the BBC while Jonathan Ross escaped with a three-month suspension for making offensive phone calls to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs on Russell Brand's Radio 2 show.
"I was sacked for saying something true about Muslim states. It wasn't on the BBC, it was in a newspaper article. Those two individuals used a BBC channel to make an obscene comment over the airwaves. my proramme was taken off the air within two days largely due to complaints from a Muslim website," he told the Daily Mail.
The 10 celebrities are enjoying their last day of luxury in an Australian hotel before heading into the jungle.
The show begins on Sunday and is expected to last three weeks. Star Trek actor George Takei, tennis champion Martina Navratilova, former police chief Brian Paddick and WAG Carly Zucker are among the other contestants.
