SUPERBITCH Charity Tate is set to make an explosive return to Emmerdale this year.
Actress Emma Atkins, 33, is coming back after her scheming character fled the village four years ago. It is part of a major revamp of the ITV1 soap, with Jeff Hordley also returning as Charity’s former lover Cain Dingle. The pair will find out their daughter Debbie Dingle — played by Charley Webb — is falsely accused of murder. Ex-prostitute Charity was hugely popular with fans thanks to her tangled love life. She ditched lesbian lover Zoe Tate for the vet’s disabled brother Chris and was made pregnant by millionaire Tom King before sleeping with his son Jimmy. Emma, who played Charity for five years, said: “She is a wonderfully complex character and an absolute joy to play. “I will relish seeing what she’s been up to.” Series producer Gavin Blyth, who recently took over from Anita Turner, said: “It’s going to be an incredibly exciting year with Charity and Cain back at the heart of the action. “This is the first of a series of new signings and intriguing characters on the horizon.” |
