I want to start herbs but am stuck for ideas... I only have basil and Chives (Some C thing) atm.

And have you got any Composting tips? And ways to keep off caterpillars which ruined our lettuce and cabbage last year

Oh, and ATM every Friday night (Available on iPlayer) on Gardeners World (LOL I'm so sad) they are growing vegetables, and you could get free seeds. (All seeds gone now )

But its a great thing for people to do, especially pinkmichk and people, as its good for kids and save money I guess.

Kiz we should start a TiBB garden club lol, and keep us updated on how our stuff is growing; and help each other out.
I planted the herbs from seeds. I put them under a propergator on a sunny windowsill and they were up within a week.

I have, sage, rosemary, basil, tarrogon, dill, parsley, mint, thyme.

They have been in my greenhouse tent thingy for about 5 weeks now and I dug over a plot of land about 2ft x 1.5ft near the kitchen.

Red made me a small fence so the dog wont get it and ruin all me hard work. then I planted them with the tallest when fully grown at the back in blocks or lines.... it took some planing but it looks lovely.

Plant herbs that you will use, else there is no point. Some herbs can be frozen or hung out to dry but all are best used as soon as they are picked. Dont let them go to flower as once this has done the crop will be useless unless you dry the seeds from the flowers and use for your next crop.

As for composting, I have a bin being delivered for my allotment and some compost accelerator. The key to compost is to layer, using some cardboard too. Scraps from the kitchen are a must but no eggs or citrus either.

Gardener clubs...... I'm on the case
