A message in the eye?

I know its fun every year for us to try to find a secret message in the eye - one of the ones for BB8 was all gay house because of the multi-colours, and another was hidden rooms because of the lock that appeared. But let's face it, it is always just coincidence, there is never really a message. Why do we always try to find one?
