Countdown to the Fantasy Football League Challenge Cup Final this Sunday 24th May.

Andy v Jonathan

How they got there

Round 1
Andy 49 Stewart 29
Andy came through this relatively low scoring game with help from Cahill(Everton) 10pts, and Van Persie 14pts being the star performers.
Stewart despite having Lampard(Chelsea) weigh in with 9pts, Delap(Stoke) 8pts and 6pts from Van Der Sar(Man Utd) could only muster a dissapointing 29 point total, especially when he had Terry(Chelsea) as a non playing and therefore pointless captain.

Jonathan 54 Mark 42
Jon eased through a tricky first round with a respectable 54 point total thanks to Lampard(Chelsea) 18pts, Cole(West Ham) 12pts, and 5pts each from James(Portsmouth) and Murphy(Fulham). Mark replied with helpful contributions from Gerrard(Liverpool) 18pts and Konchesky(Fulham) 6pts in his total of 42. However, he was ultimately let down by 7 of his team scoring just 2pts or less, Lescott(Everton), Johnson(Portsmouth), Reo Coker(A.Villa), Torres(liverpool), and Anelka(Chelsea) all scoring 2pts.
Whilst Kitson(Stoke) who played just 8 mins and collected a yellow card together with Haman(Man City) who didnt play at all, both failed to score at all, and that proved very costly.

Round 2.
Andy 52 Rebecca 49
What a tie!! Andy's consistantly strong defence of Cech(Chelsea) 7pts, Lescott(Everton) 9pts, Jagielka(Everton) 12pts, Bosingwa(Chelsea) 5pts together with a match winning contribution from Lennon(Tottenham) 8pts get him a healthy total of 52.
But back came the in form Rebecca and her team aided by Ronaldo(Man Utd) 12pts, Lescott(Everton) 9pts, and Taylor(Bolton) 9pts amongst the star performers that came so close to a dramatic win.
It was so desperatley close and but for a better disciplined team Rebecca would have squeezed through, she must still be ruefull of the fact Ronaldo as captain was yellow carded (a 2pt loss) with his team mates Berbatov(Man Utd) and Zaki(Wigan) also being cautioned making for a 4pts shorter total. However Andy held out to win this thrilling tie by just 3 pts.

Jonathan 43 Jamie 31
Poor Jamie and his luck, after he's produced the shock result of the round last time, beating the league leader Angela who had a 100% record of wins he then meets 2nd placed and in form Jonathan (who did become the league Champion) in round 2.
Unfortunatley Jamies problems in the league came back to haunt him in this cup tie too as 4 players Kompany(Man City), Meite(WBA), Alves(M'Borro), and Deco(Chelsea) got 1 point each (Deco was captain so got 2) but Wright Phillips(Man City) and Defoe(Tottenham) failed completely scoring 0, and Jamie was left with a paultry 31 points total.
It was never going to be enough and Jonathan's team eased through with help from Lampard(Chelsea) 18pts, Neville(Everton) 6pts, and Torres(Liverpool) 5pts making up his eventual winning score of 43.

Semi Final
Andy 56 Dan 49
Once again it was manager Andy's impressive defence that stood firm and gained a deserved win into the final. Contributions from Cech(Chelsea) 6pts, Lescott(Everton) 6pts, Jagielka(Everton) 12pts, Upson(West Ham) 8pts and a magnificient 8pts from goal poacher Keane(Tottenham) put him in control with a solid 56pts total.
Dan, despite the heroics of captain Lampard(Chelsea) 26pts and Turner(Hull) 9pts could only get within 7 pts of his victorious opponent.
Andy the cup tie expert was in the Final, and he will take some beating.

Jon 69 Gemma 67
One of the highest scoring cup ties of this years competition saw Jonathan claim his place in the final over Gemma.
Gemma's team could not be faulted and on another day would have beaten anyone with Cech(Chelsea) 6pts, Campbell(Portsmouth) 6pts, Carragher(Liverpool) 7pts, Carrick(Man Utd) 5 pts, Barry(A.Villa) 5pts, Fuller(Stoke) 8pts, and Lampard(Chelsea) 26pts making up her fantastic 69 point total.
However the in form Jonathan found what it would take to beat a high total like that, and showing the form which has already won him the League Championsip this season he stormed back with a mighty winning score of 69. James(Portsmouth) 8pts, Neville(Everton) 6pts, Distin(Portsmouth) 6pts, Lampard(Chelsea) 26 pts, and Keane 8pts all helped.

So its Cup tie expert Andy against the League Champion Jonathan in Sunday's final, who's going to win the cup?
One things for sure its going to be one hell of a close battle of wills.

Good luck to both.
