THEY WILL ALL BE LABELLED UNTALENTED WANNABES
ELIZABETH'S FINAL VERDICT Elizabeth Woodcock JONNY, Kate, Jade and Alex have emerged into a world they will not recognise. They all looked pretty shocked in their eviction interviews but, happily, the crowd was all cheers - except for when Tim walked on the stage and the booing returned. Poor bloke. I was amazed at the result. I had it down as Jonny, Jade, then a really close one between Alex and Kate. In the event, Kate became the first female winner and good for her. She was the perfect Big Brother contestant, a balance of all the necessary attributes to win. Attractive, funny enough, sufficiently sensitive, not overtly bitchy, drunk frequently and an unthreatening flirt. People could identify with her and she made them laugh. Alex was probably not easy-going enough, Jonny too normal and Jade, well, was she ever in the running? How Kate plays it now depends on what she wants. If it's lots of cash then she should take all that is offered, from opening supermarkets to film premieres. If she wants a longer media career, she should secure an influential agent and do what they say. She could just walk away with the £70,000, but that won't happen. Too many people will want a piece of the action - and she'll be ready to party after nine weeks of confinement. Kate, Alex and Jonny are definitely winners in the future career stakes, plus Alison, Spencer and maybe PJ. But Adele, Lynne, Lee, Sophie, Sandy and definitely Tim are the baddies, the losers who will find it hard to make a bob or two. They'll come in for the most criticism, labelled, like all BB contestants, as untalented wannabes. All I can say is have a thick skin and smile. I do find it amazing that you can provide weeks of entertainment only to be stripped to pieces by the press. Maybe it's because the contestants aren't anything special. Jade is a different case to the other housemates. Do we hate her, love her, or feel sorry for her? Let's face it, she did add most of the entertainment value to the show. As Jade lapped up the cheers on the BB stage, Davina assured her 'the nation loves you'. But I'd love to sit on her shoulder for the next year to see the reaction to her and her reaction to how she was portrayed. How will she feel when she reads headlines like 'Slaughter the pig'? What will she think when she sees comedian Graham Norton, who hugged her as she came out of the house, mimicking her on TV in a naked fat suit only the night before? She's just a young, uneducated, harmless lass after all. BB3 has been the most popular yet. Next year's lot are probably recording their audition tapes already. They know they'd be loved and they are sure they could win. But, beware - BB4 will probably be even meaner and badder, because Channel Four now have to beat those eight million votes and record viewing figures. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Quote:
