Well, lets take this eccentric, different and enternaining housemate.
Lets take a bunch of normal boring people who don't know how to react to an excentric.
The answer isn't people like him because he's being picked on, he's liked because he's an eccentric character in the house and the ones 'picking on him' are boring.
