I think jj is wrong because

Everyone who goes on a show like BB has a slightly nacassistic view of themselves, JJ included. They all want to win the show otherwise they would be watching instead of doing. Speaking to Racheal like that just showed me that he has been hurt in someway by a pretty girl and Racheal reminds him of that person. I think he secretly really fancies her.
