http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2...300457,00.html (it has pics) AUSTRALIAN Prime Minister John Howard has called for Aussie Big Brother to be taken off the air. His decision comes after an incident between contestants prompted an investigation into sexual assault. Michael “Ash” Cox, 20, and Michael “John” Brice, 21, were marched from the compound on Saturday. Footage appeared to show Brice holding a girl housemate down in bed while Cox dangled his genitals in her face. The girl, Camilla Hailwell, 22, had been sleeping. Outraged MPs and family groups called for the show to be taken off air. The country’s media watchdog launched a probe. Aussie Labour opposition leader Kim Beazley said: “I would advise the channel to make this Big Brother the last.” MP Trish Draper added: “I believe there were signs it had already gone too far.” In a statement Cox and Brice, who spent 70 days in the house on the Gold Coast, said: “It’s unfortunate it had to end this way. “But Big Brother has rules and we broke them. We would never do anything to offend our fellow housemates.” Yesterday Big Brother had closed its Aussie website forum. Maker Endemol has been slammed by critics around the world — including Britain. |
