He knows this ... he sometimes calls my mobile at 1, 2 or even 3 in the morning ... that is fine with me ... it is when we are at our best and like to chat ... like calls to like ...

As has been reiterated on many occasions ... Ben retired to bed early as a form of escape ... if you are bored off your tits and trapped with people who are not really your friends and are certainly not stimulating your mind or your soul you are living a kind of hell and sleep is a glorious escape ... as many hours as you can contrive ...

Depressed people do this ... Ben's parlous situation in that house was I think leading him into a quite severe depression ...

He normally laughs in the most joyous and innocent way all the time ...

I heard precious little of that from him ... when I just occasionally heard him laughing like his normal self my heart leapt ... but it was so rare

He is himself again now ... amazingly undamaged by all the horror ...

What a fantastic and forgiving and fascinating man he is ...

And how lucky am I to count him as a much adored and esteemed friend ...

Ben said on more than one occasion that if he went to bed early it would make the days pass quicker,Can you blame him?who would want to be around most of those spiteful morons for very long,people were spiteful,when they wanted early nights and sleep they got it,when Ben did ,they all messed around including his 'so called' mate Dave
