Arctic Monkeys are today confirmed as one of the headliners for OXEGEN 2011. We asked you who you most wanted to see and Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters were among your top choices.

Arctic Monkeys are without question one of the defining bands of the last decade. Their first album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not became the fastest-selling debut album in UK music history and the soundtrack for a generation. Their second release Favourite Worst Nightmare saw them hit No.1 again and pick up a Brit Award for Best Album and Best Band for the second year running.

The band developed their sound further with their critically acclaimed third chart topper Humbug. Last seen at OXEGEN in 2006, it’s brilliant to welcome Arctic Monkeys back to Punchestown.

Foo Fighters were our first band confirmed for 2011 yesterday. The US superstars, fronted by Dave Grohl, are one of the most influential bands on the planet. Their headline set will be the first chance for Irish fans to hear new material as well as anthems spanning their incredible Grammy laden career.

OXEGEN returns to Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare from Thursday 7th-Sunday 10th July 2011. (subject to licence).
