Default Police HUNT man suspected of infecting lovers with HIV.

POLICE are hunting a man suspected of knowingly infecting his lover with HIV.

Jermaine Scott, 27, is wanted after a mum-of-two told officers he had given her the virus.

She says the pair had *unprotected sex even though he knew that he was infected. She fears other women could also be at risk.

Scott is originally from Jamaica but is believed to have been living in the UK for up to 10 years.

He has links to Merseyside, Wolverhampton, Huddersfield and London.

Anyone who knowingly infects another person with HIV can be charged with GBH.

A police spokeswoman said: “It is not believed that Scott poses a risk to the public as a whole. However there is potential for risk of harm to those in a domestic relationship with him. Detectives advise that any sightings be reported to police so that the information can be acted upon.

“Additionally, we appeal to Scott himself to come forward and present himself at his nearest police station.”

The mum who made the complaint is worried Scott could put other women at risk. She was in a relationship with him and having unprotected sex when she was told by one of his former lovers that he had HIV.

When she confronted him it is alleged he confirmed he was infected. She was tested and discovered that she also had the virus. The woman, from Cheshire, has two young children from previous relationships. Neither child has the virus.

She believes Scott knew he had the virus for more than four years. The young mum is being supported by members of her family and close friends but is said to have endured taunts from former associates.

Her home has also been daubed with hurtful graffiti.

She admitted she has considered suicide since discovering she was infected but says she is determined to stay strong for her children. She said: “If it was not for my children I wouldn’t be here today.”

But now she is determined to start living her life again.

Last August, singer Nadja Benaissa, 28, escaped jail in Germany for infecting an ex-boyfriend with HIV. She got a two year suspended sentence because she showed remorse.

Anyone who knows of Scott’s whereabouts should call Runcorn CID in Cheshire on 0845 458 0000 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
